Brett Favre was flagged for being a hypocrite after criticizing Texans star quarterback Deshaun Watson.
The Hall of Fame quarterback took issue with Watson requesting a trade recently due to not being included in the process of hiring a new general manager.
“I’m kind of old school,” Favre, the Hall of Fame quarterback, told Yahoo Sports on Monday. “You get paid a ton of money to do a certain job, and just do it, and let the chips fall where they may.”
Watson signed a four-year, $156 million extension with Houston in September.
“I think we make too much money to voice an opinion, but I’m not saying he’s wrong,” Favre said. “Again I think it’s a different day and time.”
Favre’s comments didn’t sit well with many, including Watson’s agent.
“Brett should probably stop throwing stones from that glass house he’s sitting in,” David Mulugheta tweeted on Wednesday, in reference to Favre forcing his way out of Green Bay after infamously retiring — and then unretiring — following the end of the 2007 season.
The now 51-year-old had three years left on a 10-year, $101.5 million contract with the Packers when he left the organization.
Favre eventually was traded to the Jets, which is where the 25-year-old Watson reportedly would like to end up.
