Free-agent veteran power forward Paul Millsap is reportedly drawing interest from the Golden State Warriors and Brooklyn Nets, per Mike Singer of the Denver Post.
The 36-year-old Millsap has played in 15 NBA seasons, suiting up for the Denver Nuggets in his last four. The four-time All-Star averaged 9.0 points on 47.6 percent shooting and 4.7 rebounds in 20.8 minutes per game in 2020-21.
He started 36 of a possible 56 regular-season matchups for a Nuggets team that reached the second round of the NBA playoffs.
Millsap began his career with the Utah Jazz in 2006 after the team selected him 47th overall in that year's draft. He remained in Salt Lake City through 2013, playing on a few successful playoff teams that also featured Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer.
He signed with the Atlanta Hawks in free agency in 2013 and made the All-Star team in each of his four seasons there. Millsap's best year was 2014-15 when he helped lead the Hawks to a 60-22 record and the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Atlanta went all the way to the conference finals, where they fell to LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
That Hawks team broke up after the 2016-17 season, and Millsap moved onto Denver, where he helped turn around a franchise that scuffled through four straight losing seasons before his arrival. The Nuggets have had four winning seasons since, including three in the playoffs and one that ended in the Western Conference Finals.
Millsap appeared to slow down a bit near the end of his Denver tenure, with his 9.0 points per game his lowest mark since 2007-08. But he could still be a key veteran piece off the bench for a team looking to contend, and the Nets and Warriors would seem to fit that bill.
They can't break the bank for Millsap, considering they have more money committed to their 2021-22 payrolls than any other NBA team, but he'd be a good fit for either one for some added frontcourt depth.
