Just a friendly reminder - there are no Big Ten games included below since they are covered in Thursday’s conference preview.
(#8)Oklahoma State at Iowa State
3:30 p.m., FOX
Oklahoma State is having the season expected for Iowa State, who were a trendy Big 12 champion pick during the summer. The Cowboys climb into the top 10 by remaining undefeated based on the strength of its...defense? Yes, it’s defense. The Cyclones will be seeking to gets its season back on track with its third consecutive victory, which will be difficult against a team that keeps finding a way to win each week.
Prediction: Oklahoma State-21, Iowa State-17
LSU at (#12)Ole Miss
3:30 p.m., CBS
My money is on this being the most entertaining game of the day. The Tigers finally found its run game against Florida last week, and it will be needed to keep pace with Ole Miss. This should be a game featuring many highlight-reel plays, momentum shifts, and a busy scoreboard operator.
Prediction: Ole Miss-51, LSU-44
Clemson at (#23)Pitt
3:30, ESPN
Which is the more bizarre phenomenon? The fact that Pitt is in the Top 25 while Clemson is unranked — or — that your favorite Penn State blog is recommending you watch a Pitt game? We are truly living in strange times. I keep predicting the Tigers to lose close games based on their lack of offense, but their defense is doing a tremendous job that allows them to squeak past most games. Pitt is experienced and will throw everything they have at them, but something tells me Clemson does just enough to get past once again.
Prediction: Clemson-20, Pitt-19
(#10)Oregon at UCLA
3:30 p.m., ABC
The Ducks have been absolutely hammered with injuries, but are looking to keep their playoff hopes alive and making a move once they get back to full health. Chip Kelly will do everything in his power to get his old squad eliminated from the playoff hunt on Saturday. The Bruins may not have lived up to the early-season hype, but this should be a battle from start to finish.
Prediction: Oregon-28, UCLA-23
USC at (#13)Notre Dame
7:30 p.m., NBC
I had to include something outside of the 3:30 p.m. slot, so we’re going with a rivalry game between two name-brand programs. Outside of that, this isn’t quite appointment viewing but you can always switch over and hope for a Notre Dame loss if/when the Ohio State-Indiana game gets out of control.
Prediction: Notre Dame-27, USC-20
