The Las Vegas Raiders have been busy thus far into free agency and have made a number of major moves that will change the look of the team in 2021. The Raiders most recently were making headlines by blowing up their current offensive line in an effort to make some changes. They have already moved on from Rodney Hudson, Gabe Jackson, and Trent Brown. The team had also released Richie Incognito but has since announced he has resigned and will return in 2021.

The good news with the trades is the Raiders are getting back quality draft capital in return and are clearing up cap space by moving on from said players. Hudson was shipped out to the Arizona Cardinals for a 2021 third round pick, Jackson was shipped out to the Seattle Seahawks for a 2021 fifth rounder and Brown landed in New England for a 2022 fifth and seventh.

Can the Raider capitalize on their boatload of draft capital?

While the Raiders are far from done signing free agents they will look to use their plethora of draft capital to bolster the roster to make a playoff run. The Raiders have plenty of potential and talent but GM Mike Mayock has been known to make a head-scratching signing or draft pick from time to time. Mayock can’t afford to miss on his early-round picks in the 2021 NFL Draft or he could be in jeopardy of losing his job if the team doesn’t find postseason success.

With a large number of picks in the 2021 NFL Draft, I expect the Raiders to make a trade or two to move up to snag their guys that they covet. The major positions of need are offensive line, linebacker, defensive line, and secondary.
