Sixers defeat Warriors with big fourth quarter in final game before trade deadline - Liberty Ballers

Tonight, in the first game of this week’s West Coast road trip, the Sixers defeated the Golden State Warriors 108-98.

It was an up-and-down contest for the Sixers.

They won the first quarter, 35-17. They entered halftime with a 14 point lead. Then, in the third quarter, the Sixers got blitzed. The Warriors brutalized the Sixers’ second unit en route to a 40-21 quarter which gave Golden State the lead heading into the fourth. Thankfully for Sixers fans, the Sixers’ starters turned it on just enough to pull out the victory, winning the final frame 28-13.

Tobias Harris rebounded from a tough game against the Knicks on Sunday night with 25 points on 18 shots and 13 rebounds.

Ben Simmons was aggressive on both ends throughout the game, and the All-Star finished with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Reversing a recent trend of decreasing free throw attempts, SImmons took 14 shots from the charity stripe tonight, making 8.

Tony Bradley, starting once again for the injured Joel Embiid, had an excellent game on both ends. He had 18 points, 11 rebounds, 2 blocks and a steal in (what must be) a season-high 33 minutes.

The Sixers shot only 29 percent from three tonight, converting only 7 of its 24 attempts.

Shake Milton played well, totaling 14 points and 4 assists as the only member of the bench unit with a positive +/- for the game (+6).

Dwight Howard had a poor game overall, missing all six shots he attempted and racking up 3 fouls in only 14 minutes. To his credit, Dwight did reel in 13 rebounds. Once again, he only played 14 minutes. The full Dwight experience, I’d say.

The Sixers move to 31-13 and maintain the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference.

Up next for the Sixers, of course, is Thursday’s 3pm trade deadline. Rumors about Daryl Morey’s Sixers are swirling already:

We’ll see how many players played their last game in a 76ers jersey tonight.

Following the deadline, the Sixers will face off against the LeBron James and Anthony Davis-less Lakers at 10pm.
