Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott said he lost feeling in his toes after his first ankle surgery last year.
Speaking with NBC's Maria Taylor for a lengthy pregame interview ahead of Thursday's season opener against the Buccaneers, Prescott said the numbness led him to ask his girlfriend or trainers to tap different toes while he closed his eyes and tried to guess which one they were touching.
Prescott is scheduled to make his return to the field Thursday night after suffering a gruesome ankle injury 11 months ago in a Week 5 game against the Giants at AT&T Stadium.
After two surgeries on the ankle and a lengthy rehab, Prescott also said in the interview he plans to get tattoos over the scars, noting that his original plan was to get a smiley face but now he is leaning toward a wishbone or the praying hands emoji.
"I see healing, I see growth, I see faith. I see it as a blessing," Prescott told Taylor.
