The prospect of containing Darren Waller just got even tougher for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Cornerback Joe Haden and inside linebacker Devin Bush will miss Sunday's game as both players are dealing with groin injuries. Haden will likely be replaced by James Pierre, the team's new starting nickelback. Marcus Allen and Robert Spillane will receive more reps with Bush out of the lineup.
Bush tied for the team lead with 10 tackles in Pittsburgh's Week 1 win in Buffalo. Haden had five tackles while helping the Steelers' defense hold Bills quarterback Josh Allen to just 254 net passing yards. On Sunday, Pittsburgh's defense will face the challenge of stopping Waller, who caught 10 passes for 105 yards and a touchdown during the Raiders' Week 1 win over the Ravens. In the win, Raiders quarterback Derek Carr went 34 of 56 passing for 435 yards and two touchdowns. The Raiders' offense will likely rely on their passing game again on Sunday with running back Josh Jacobs out with toe and ankle injuries. He will be replaced by Kenyan Drake, who caught five passes for 59 yards in Monday night's win.
Waller has a chance to make NFL history on Sunday. If Waller tops 100 receiving yards against the Steelers, he will become the first tight end since the 1970 merger to have five straight 100-yard games, per Josh Dubow of the Associated Press.
