Here’s the latest on Andy Reid’s condition: Chiefs coach taken to hospital - NJ.com

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was taken to the hospital by ambulance on Sunday after his team lost to the Los Angeles Chargers, but he’s “doing well, currently resting and in stable condition,” the team announced Sunday night via Twitter.

Reid, 63, was taken to the University of Kansas Health System hospital “for further evaluation” after receiving attention from the team’s medical staff at Arrowhead, the Kansas City Star reported.

ESPN reports Reid “was treated for dehydration and he is expected to be fine.”

UPDATE (1:18 p.m.): Herbie Teope of the Kansas City Star tweets that the “Chiefs announce coach Andy Reid has been released from the hospital and is in ‘great spirits, he’s doing well.’ Chiefs say Reid will likely be back in the building for work at some point today or Tuesday.”

The Associated Press reported that Reid, the former Eagles head coach, was feeling ill but coached the duration of the game.

“Coach just wasn’t feeling well,” Chiefs special teams coach Dave Toub said afterward. “He did talk to the team.”

Toub added: “I just think he was feeling a little ill at the end. I think he’s fine. I think he’s going to be fine.”

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes said Reid “seemed fine on the sideline as well” as the Chiefs (1-2) threw away an opportunity to beat the Chargers with four turnovers, several costly penalties and numerous missed assignments.

“He came in and talked to us and he seemed fine,” Mahomes said of the postgame locker room. “That’s all I really know.”

Asked what Reid said afterward, running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire replied: “Pretty much it’s not going to be over-the-top as far as him getting on us. We know what we did wrong. We know what we need to get corrected.”

“He came and told us — it’s not necessarily going to be all right, but it’s things that we can get fixed that can make it all right. That’s what we need to go in and handle tomorrow. That’s what it is,” Edwards-Helaire added. “Watch the film tonight, see what we can get corrected, come in tomorrow and handle our business.”

The AP contributed to this report.
