The Indianapolis Colts recently worked out five defensive backs, including Darqueze Dennard and Dee Virgin, according to Ari Meirov.

Meirov also reports that the Colts worked out a total of five defensive backs.
Dennard, most recently with the Arizona Cardinals, and Virgin, most recently with the Detroit Lions, have bounced around the NFL a bit.
Each could add some veteran presence to Indy’s cornerback room, though. Given the issues the team has had with injuries surrounding their secondary group this season, trying out multiple veteran defensive backs appears to be a smart move.
Part of the Colts’ downfall to the Baltimore Ravens last Monday night was due to inexperienced depth at both the cornerback and safety position. At one point, every defensive back aside from nickel cornerback Kenny Moore was a 3rd or 4th-string player, which ended up being extremely costly for Indy.
Both cornerback Xavier Rhodes and safety Andrew Sendejo were placed on the team’s concussion protocol Monday, and with cornerback Rock Ya-Sin and safety Khari Willis already battling injuries of their own, the Colts have dipped their toe in the free agency pool to try and potentially bring in some temporary replacements for their veteran players.
It should be noted, however, that both cornerback Xavier Rhodes and Rock Ya-Sin returned to practice Friday, according to Zak Keefer, a writer for The Athletic. Rhodes is officially listed as ‘questionable’ while Ya-Sin was a full participant, indicating he’s likely good to go for Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans.
Still no Braden Smith at Colts’ final practice of the week. Good news on the corner front— Rock Ya-Sin and Xavier Rhodes both out here. Kwity Paye looks good to go.
No Kemoko Turay, no Rodrigo Blankenship.

The Colts are trying to avoid their second 1-5 start in two years, and potentially getting two starters back in Rhodes and Ya-Sin would give a major boost to their secondary, which has struggled mightily against the pass this season.
Even with the returns of both Rhodes and Ya-Sin expected in the near future, Indy continues to do its homework on veteran free agent defensive backs who could add experience to an otherwise inexperienced secondary behind the team’s starters.
