Eagles Injury Report: Jason Peters downgraded, Alshon Jeffery upgraded - Bleeding Green Nation

The Philadelphia Eagles issued their second official injury report on Thursday in advance of their Week 14 game against the New Orleans Saints.

Four players DID NOT PRACTICE: Jason Peters, T.J. Edwards, Michael Jacquet, and Rudy Ford.

Peters missed today’s practice entirely after being limited on Wednesday. Looks like he’s not on track to play this week. If JP can’t suit up, Jalen Hurts will have the following offensive line for his first NFL start:

Left tackle — Jordan Mailata
Left guard — Isaac Seumalo
Center — Jason Kelce
Right guard — Nate Herbig
Right tackle — Jack Driscoll

Edwards missing two straight days isn’t a good sign for his playing chances. His absence would leave the Eagles with four healthy linebackers: Alex Singleton, Duke Riley, Shaun Bradley, and Joe Bachie. And Bachie only joined the team this week! The Eagles did notably use a practice squad protection on Rashad Smith, so maybe they’ll look to elevate him to give them a fifth body at the position.

Michael Jacquet seems bound to miss this week’s game. If that’s the case, that leaves Darius Slay, Avonte Maddox, and Nickell Robey-Coleman as the only three corners on the 53-man roster. The Eagles will probably look to elevate veteran corner Kevon Seymour from the practice squad to give them more depth.

Ford is on track to miss his fourth straight game and his eighth this season. The team should just open up a roster spot by putting him on IR at this point. Ford, who turned 26 last month, is going to be a free agent after this season. He doesn’t need to be playing over Grayland Arnold when healthy.

Two players were LIMITED: Darius Slay and Derek Barnett.

Slay was also limited on Wednesday. I imagine he’ll play this weekend but he’s not going to be 100%. We’ll see if he’s able to make it through the game.

Barnett is a new addition to the injury report. He did get banged up in Week 13 but didn’t miss much playing time. Barnett’s pretty tough so he’s probably going to play unless his ailment is much worse than we know.

Two players were listed as FULL: Fletcher Cox and Alshon Jeffery.

Cox missed Wednesday’s practice as a precaution. He’ll play on Sunday.

Jeffery was upgraded after being limited yesterday. It looks like he’ll be suiting up this week, unfortunately. Hopefully the Eagles do the smart thing and keep him inactive. Or at least don’t bother wasting snaps on him.

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS INJURY REPORT (THURSDAY)

Three changes to the Saints’ injury report:

1 - Starting defensive tackle David Onyemata missed practice due to illness.

2 - Starting defensive tackle Malcom Brown was upgraded to limited.

3 - No. 2 running back Latavius Murray was added to the report as limited due to a knee issue.

Philly legend Patrick Robinson missed his second straight practice, thus making it unlikely he plays this Sunday. That’s too bad.

Taysom Hill is on track to start at quarterback this week even though Drew Brees is eligible to be activated from injured reserve. The Saints are likely saving Brees for next week’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Really no need to rush Brees back to beat the Eagles.
